CUNY will host the ACRL Scholarly Communication 101 Road Show on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Brooklyn College. As part of this event, two expert presenters will offer a presentation and workshop entitled “Scholarly Communication 101: Starting with the Basics,” which will focus on new methods of scholarly publishing and communication; copyright and intellectual property; economics; and open access. The program is targeted toward librarians and library staff who require a foundational understanding of these issues, including subject liaisons or those with new leadership assignments related to research and scholarly inquiry.
The two speakers for the workshop will be:
• Lee VanOrsdel, Dean of University Libraries, Grand Valley State University
• Joy Kirchner, Librarian, Collections, Licensing & Digital Scholarship, University of British Columbia Library
Following the ACRL workshop, afternoon break-out sessions will expand on issues raised by the presenters as well as related topics.
